Thease salamanders grow up to 8 to 14 cm in length, of which the tail comprises 40%. They have long toes; four on the frount feet and five on the hined feet. Blue spotted salamanders are mostly found in moist, deciduous hardwood forest and swampy woodlands, though they can be found in coniferous forest and fields too. They eat worms, snails, slugs, insects, centipedes, spiders and other small invertebrates.
